A holiday spent in the lovely area of Wales known as Ceredigion. This is the least populated part of Wales. With only 600 square miles, and 70,000 people, there are far more sheep than humans. We had booked a caravan in a place called Clarach Bay. This is on the coast, about four miles from Aberystwyth. A lovely camp, and the caravan was the best by far that we have used. The disabled facilities were excellent. We had been recommended by a work colleague, and I also knew that my old boss was working there, as well as another couple of friends. So this would be a bit of a reunion as well as a break. The area all around is so picturesque that is hard to describe. Hills and valleys all bringing more beauty every corner you take. To start the journey I had relied on a map fromwww.theAA.com They are usually very good, and I have used there free service many times. Not that time however. I went past Swansea, to Llandilo, and then the map turned me onto a small "B" road. This one went for about 20 miles along the steepest, twistiest, narrowest roads in the UK. I have never seen the like, and I have driven all over the UK. And all this in pouring rain. But we got there in the end, only to find that another route would have taken half the time. After a bit of unpacking, we went to the camp club for a meal. We were all hungry by now, and ordered a meal. Now we have eaten in the USA where the meals are huge. So was this, and none of us could finish it. Entertainment most nights, and usually with the camp hosts. They were very good, and got the children going well. In the week, we drove to North Wales, and all around the area. As I have said, lovely. I have a few photo's of the area at the bottom of this. We went on the Talyllyn narrow gauge railway, the first to be run by enthusiasts in the UK. In the north we went as far as the Bala lake, which is about half way to the north, but a fair day out. Only the rain on the way back spoiled a lovely day. I met up with my old boss, Hilary who had decided that she had enough of the rat race, and did not need it. I asked if she missed it, and not to my surprise, she said not for a second. So that was our visit to this area. We went back the next year for another week.
