Web design
As I enjoy both designing and building web sites, and have been taking photos for well over forty years it seemed natural that I should try and make more of my hobbies. So I have put this page in for anyone that might interested in getting a site up and running or having photos taken for any reason at all.
The first part will be on the web design and build.
There are several ways to get your web site up and running and not all have to cost money.
If you have an Internet connection than you will have web space to build your own site. You will have to purchase a web building package and get all the details from your ISP to go about it.
There are also quite a lot of ‘free’ site builders. They are fairly simple to use and a basic site should not be to much problem.
However not everyone has the time or the interest in building their own site and that is where I would like to help if you want to get a site off the ground.
I always use Heart Internet to host all my sites. I have had over the years excellent customer service and very few problems. ( and most of them have been down to me!)
The sites that I build are really for the home and family or for the small business.

What will it cost to get a site up and running? Well they do not come free and you can click the link for Heart Internet to get some idea of basic costs but a starter package is around £50 for the first year and then around £40 a year after that.
You will need a domain name and that is between £10 and £25 depending on which one you need. That will last for two years and will need repeating as long as you want the site.
As for my own costs? Well as with everything, the more you want the more it will cost because the longer it will take to do.
I really want to get this up and going so will give excellent prices to start it off.
To build just a basic site for the home with about eight pages and a small photo album I would charge you £60 plus the costs from Heart Internet.
But if you want a large site with a lot of pages then that is going to take more time to build and the price will go up accordingly. I would have to get a feel for your needs and discuss it with you.

Photography
I started taking photos in school, where unusually for time they had a photography class. One of the teachers was interested in the subject and taught us how to take a photo and how to develop and print them.
This was in the days of black and white of course and way before the easy print off that came after it. I had a developing set in the bathroom and spent ages developing roles of film.
I grew out of that as I started work and colour film came along to all and it was easy to go to the chemist and get the film developed.
But I have never lost the enjoyment of taking that moment in time that a photograph is.
Since those early days I have changed cameras many times and have been into the digital photo since very early on.
I now have a Nikon D3000 and a Sigma 70-

Prices? Well that of course will depend very much on what you want. Travel costs would come into it and any prints would have to cost as well.
To give you some idea a simple family portrait with some prints would be around £50 but a large poster of 30”x 20” could add another £30 onto that.
A full wedding could easily cost £400 plus any wedding album costs.
