For those who have been kind enough to visit this site before, you may notice a difference in the ‘Wales’ pages. I Have taken out the pages from Britannica and I have put in a simple link to those who want to visit that site and find out more about this lovely country. So if you want to find out more about the history of this incredible land visit Welsh History from the Britannica site. They do it far better than I can.
You will find that Wales is an ancient land with an incredible culture. I myself do not speak Welsh and it is supposed to be one of the hardest languages on earth to master.
I was not born in this lovely land but my family came from here to the Midlands many years ago. If you are interested in the family history then click on Burns and Mantle history and that will tell you a lot more about our family links than I have got time for here.
My parents came to Cardiff when I was a baby and as I am now 62 years old I consider myself as Welsh as any in this city! Cardiff is now a very cosmopolitan city and grew up from the small village it was many years ago when the coal trade came in. This was once the coal centre of the UK and the first million pound business deal was done here. A good resource site is ‘Cardiffians’ and if you click on the castle that will take you there.
Another great site of course is ‘Wikipedia’ and I have linked that site to the photo below Taken inside the castle
I live in one of the satellites estates that Cardiff is made up of called Llanedeyrn This estate has a history goes back to the 12th Century.
I have put in a separate page for the area as I thought that it deserved its place on the web.
