This is a page on the firm that I have worked for the last 27 years. Cardiff Bus is the largest council run bus company in the area. We are in effect a private company, but as the city council hold 100% of the shares, and the council members are on our board, in reality, we are still council owned.
For more on the history of Cardiff Bus, then click on the link. We have been going for over 100 years, now and have a long history. This link will tell you far more about the firm than I can. The company celebrated it's 100th anniversary with a show of old buses from all over the UK. Also there was one of huge bendy style buses that we operate today. If you are interested in seeing a album of the show, it can be found here. Bus show
have put a history of the time that I have spent here on my page, but below are a few pictures of the depot that I work in, and some of the buses we use. They were taken on a quiet Sunday morning, about the only quiet day of the week.
If you think the depot itself is nothing to look at, then you are right. They serve a function, and that is about it. The photo's do not show just how big the place really is. We have to house about 250 buses, plus maintenance area and administration area, plus other places, It takes up a huge area about seven acres.
There is a move coming from this depot soon, as the land will be taken over for housing. With the sale of the old football stadium next door, and the building of a new one, it was inevitable that our depot would follow. We think that this will happen sometime next year, and a new depot will be built by 2008. More to follow on that.
